James 5:16-18. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
Prayer is one of the criteria that God has lay down,accordingly to 2Chro.7:14,if we want to see revival in our life.Revival is not possible without prayer,the word of God is clear about it and from history we see that the greatest move of God have resulted when people come humbly together to pray.It is the primary and basic task that God has given to Mankind here on Earth.But unfortunately most people live their lives everyday without talking to the Creator who made them,..oh how sad it is!They sleep and wake up,yet they don’t talk to the One that made it possible for them to breath,they walk to & fro their places of work and business yet they don’t talk to the One whose Earth they walk on.Many don’t have enough time to pray,but they have time for their own business,and partying.(Don’t misunderstand me I’m not against party,but we should put first things first).It is a honour and privilege to pray to the Almighty,the Creator of Heaven and Earth,to talk with Him and have Him talk back to us.And when we don’t make use of this honour of praying,we are like animals in the bush that perish.Psalm 49:20 Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.
Only the righteous is qualify to pray ‘effective prayer’, God has committed Himself to answer always the prayer of the ‘Righteous’.There’s no guaranty always that God answers the prayers of sinners except the prayer of salvation.Pro 15:8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.The Righteous are those who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour,and living for Him day to day.So therefore as a result of their having Jesus as Lord,the righteousness of Christ Jesus have been imputed into them by grace through faith. 2Co 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
The irony of today’s world is that we have many sinners praying but few righteous men&women holding God through prayer.And out of the few righteous praying,a very little percentage prays for revival,what a honour it ‘ll be to partner with God in prayer until His Will (mighty outpouring of His Spirit) be done here on Earth,this what happens when the righteous prays!
Just like Elijah,the righteous can close and open heaven through prayers.Elijah prayers was not answered because he was a prophet but because he had a right standing with God and he prayed with all earnestly,thus his prayers was themed ‘effective’.Your status or position doesn’t move God to answer your prayers,either you meet the criteria for answered prayers or you missed it.Elijah prayed that it will not rain accordingly to the will of God for three and half years and it didn’t. Even though it was the will of God that it will not rain,can you imagine that the Almighty God still needed to use the prayers of Elijah to achieve that and also to bring rain after the period elapsed.1Kings18:1,41-46.
Today God is raising up men and women with the passion for prayer and the next greatest move of God in the history of the World shortly before Jesus returns,may you be one of them in Jesus Name.
