Text:1Kings 18:41-45
Rain is a very important element for various reasons,for agricultural purposes and preservation of lives of living things.Even as physical rain is important,so also,we need spiritual rain:Rain of Revival.Imagine how everything will stink & smell,and the numbers of deaths that will be recorded both of plants,animals including humans,if there’s no rain Is it not so spiritually?Look around today,you will see spiritual famine and drought everywhere.Iniquity abounding because the love of many are waxing cold.Matt.24:12.Sinners heading to hell,believers sleeping and slumbling,it is a sign than more than ever before we need the revival rain to fall.
According to the text,we’re considering today,we shall see how God brought rain to the land of Israel after three and half years in which there was no rain by the word of God through the mouth of His Prophet Elijah.There are three vital points to consider in this passage ;
—God’s willingness to send rain:-The Prophet Elijah didn’t just go to the King on his own volition,but because he was send by God to go and tell the King that there will be rain.1Kings18:1 And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, shew thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.From this verse we can see God’s willingness to send rain which He communicated through His Prophet.Likewise in our day God is more willing to send the rain of revival before Jesus comes back.And we have be given the honour by God to announce it,that the rain of revival is about to fall once again upon us.That’s why we are doing what we are doing because we have be sent.What God is about to do will ‘blow -off’ the minds of many people.
—Carrying out our responsibility before the rain falls :-Before the revival rain falls we have some responsibilities and part to play in it.We are to hold God by His word through our ‘holy humble’ prayers, to send the much needed revival.2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Having received the promise of God to send rain,Elijah proclaimed it to the King Ahab,why the King went to eat and drink,Elijah went up to the top of the mountain to pray down the rain.Just like Prophet Elijah we are to pray the revival rain which promise,we had received from God.Zec 10:1 Ask ye of the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain; so the LORD shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.
—Patient is needed for us to see the revival rain:-The prophet Elijah had to pray for the seventh time before the servant said to him,..there is a cloud,as small as a man’s hand rising out of the sea.Imagine how patient Elijah was,before God finally gave the rain even though God has intended to send rain but a ‘man’ Elijah had to still pray for seven times,this is one mystery of life we shall fully understand when we get to heaven,’why Elijah has to pray for seventh time’?Nevertheless lets keep praying until the revival rain God has promise starts falling,and I promise you and God bears me witness that soonest there will be a great outpouring of revival rain.
