Rom 16:18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
The videos posted here speaks volume about the state of the church in our present generation. From North-American,to Africa Asia,Europe, the prosperity message seems to be spreading, more people seeking ”the hand of God and not His face”. More than ever before, there’s a big and urgent need for revival,by revival I mean true,Holy Spirit revival to turn around the state of things in the church. We want to see the holy fear of God restore back to the church just like in the early church. Act 2:43 says, And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
We can’t both serve God and mammon at the same time, either we accept one or reject the other,Luke16:13.We would be deceiving ourselves saying we are serving God,at the same time our eyes are seriously fixed on money and materials things of this world, which is temporal and passes away.We have made the things God made, little gods in our lives instead of Jehovah God Almighty. When shall we be tired of chasing ”gold and instead chase God,the maker of gold”.
Let Jesus be our perfect example,if we follow Christ and are called by His name (Christ-ians) let us imitate Him in all things. For instance, when it comes to money issues,Jesus didn’t allow money or material things of this world to be an idol in His heart. He didn’t store up millions and billions in His account like many of us preachers and believers do today, forgetting that soon the rapture will take place or if we die,we would go to eternity without it.Jesus had opportunities to have so much money in His time but He didn’t,He would have charge money for each miracles He performed, just like many are doing today both directly and indirectly but He didn’t.He would have asked for a big monthly salary package from His followers, but He didn’t rather He solely depended on the Father to provide His needs.More than once,He hadn’t no money to buy bread to feed thousands but He depended on God.He was asked to pay tax for Himself and His disciple, but had no money on Him for that, yet depended on the Father who made a way by putting the coin in the mouth of a fish.He had no money to buy a horse but borrowed a colt (young horse) to ride on to Jerusalem to fulfill the scripture.
I strongly believe in God blessing us financially please don’t get me wrong, but God is not blessing us to accumulate and store up wealth,in this world,”where moth and rust doth corrupt”, Matt.6:19-20.God blesses us so that we can be a blessing to others.God gives us,so we can continuously give to others.Jesus in this parable spoke against the rich fool that said, ”And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?” Luke12:19-20.
Look around many are starving to death,a lot of people without homes, joblessness and poverty on the increase,Orphans,Widows and Needy people crying out everyday, while few people are having millions and billions in their accounts. These are true in the world today but so sadly is it also in the church.
Let us return back to the wisdom of the early church, whom out of love for God and each other sold their properties for the welfare of each other.I can’t imagine Apostle Peter or John exploiting the people and keeping part of the contributions and offerings that people gave in their own pockets or accounts as some preachers and believers do today.
God or Mammon,therefore choose one!
These are some of my opinions, please let me know what you think about this issue either here or send it to: travail2prevail@gmail.com
Lets pray:
Please Father, forgive us for loving the material things of this world more than you, turn us again unto you.Fill us with love from you and for you like never before in Jesus name.Amen!
