Among the many parables that our Lord Jesus told was the parable of one more year.He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.Luke13:6-9.
Among some other things the Lord has said concerning this year 2013,is that,this is the year God is offering us the opportunity of having a fruitful relationship with Him,it is year of a deep love relationship with God.Many of us would have been cut down just like the barren fig tree in this parable but thank God for His mercy that have kept us till now to see this special year.
God have tolerated our barrenness for a long time but is giving us the opportunity to come out of it this year.We are still in the first half of the year and you still have the opportunity to come out of spiritual barrenness and start having fruitful relationship with your Maker.I’m talking of fruitfulness not just in terms of quantity but quality,giving to the poor is good,assisting the needing,even winning souls are all great,but nothing can take the place of fruitful relationship with God.
Just like the Owner of the vineyard in the parable came looking for fruit in the fig tree,so is God the Father coming back to look into our lives to see if He would find the fruit of love in us.God is looking for those that love Him and that loves what He loves too.Allow God,He wants to replace every spiritual barrenness with the fruit of love in your life,and those bearing fruit,He wants to purge so that you can bear more fruit.
The countdown for the cutting of the barren tree has surely began except it bears fruit acceptable to God,if not it shall be cut down.Sad but true,let God be true and every man a liar.God is giving us as individuals, churches and nation,an opportunity for change, to turn to Him in repentance and to bring forth fruit of pure agape love.As a result of the cutting down,some will fall away from the faith giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils,there ‘ll be increase in unbelieving believers,betrayal among brethren will also increase etc.When you arrange year 2013 in descending order you get 3,2,1,0…that’s a sign of a countdown that has began in the spirit realm.Sensing that something new and unique is already taking shape in the spirit.
