Before college students and staff targeted by anti-Christian terrorist Chris Harper-Mercer were displaying their unwavering faith for Jesus Christ, Christians around the world have been demonstrating what an actual religion of peace does in the face of persecution.

A ministry team of twelve Christians, including two women and a 12-year-old boy, were recently captured by Muslim militants. After being tortured and commanded to convert to Islam, the captives only had one word for the jihadists.

The Gospel Herald reports that a dozen Christians of a Syrian gospel team were kidnapped by the Islamic State on August 28. Nine men, two woman, and the 12-year-old son of a team leader who had started nine churches were brutally tortured before their captors decided they would either renounce Christ and embrace Islam or be slaughtered.

“In front of the team leader and relatives in the crowd, the Islamic extremists cut off the fingertips of the boy and severely beat him, telling his father they would stop the torture only if he, the father, returned to Islam,” Christian Aid revealed, according to a report from Morning Star News.

Never wavering in his faith, the little boy endured the torture, refusing to deny Jesus Christ.

“When the team leader refused, relatives said, the ISIS militants also tortured and beat him and the two other ministry workers. The three men and the boy then met their deaths in crucifixion.”

The devout Muslims then took the other eight Christians to a separate area of the village, where Muslim civilians gathered to watch their punishment carried out, according to Christian Aid Mission.

The remaining Christians were each given one last chance to convert to Islam and escape their fate. After they again resisted, the militants took the two women, ages 29 and 33, and raped them in front of the large crowd.

The Muslims decided that each of the infidels would be sacrificed to Allah via beheading.

“Villagers said some were praying in the name of Jesus, others said some were praying the Lord’s Prayer, and others said some of them lifted their heads to commend their spirits to Jesus,” the ministry director told Christian Aid.

Just before one woman was about to be beheaded, she lifted her eyes to her murderers and left them with one final word.

“One of the women looked up and seemed to be almost smiling as she said, ‘Jesus!’”

The headless corpses were then nailed to crosses and displayed in public, as a mockery of Christ and a warning to those who would oppose true Islam.

Although sympathizers, apologists, and the majority of Muslims will argue that this brutal slaughter has nothing to do with Islam, the Islamic Prophet Muhammad alreadyoutlined these exact punishments for those who would refuse Allah.

“The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned.” Quran 5:33

Allah defines those who make mischief as idolators, or anyone who rejects Islam. This is why ISIS has targeted the Christian minority with Quranic scripture to justify it. In fact, Allah commands that Muslims are to physically fight until there are no more non-Muslims.

“Fight in the cause of God those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for God loves not transgressors [idolators]. And kill them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out; for persecution and oppression are worse than slaughter…Such is the reward of those who reject the faith.” Quran 2:190

To ensure that misunderstanding “moderate” Muslims couldn’t claim that these scriptures had a different, less violent meaning, Muhammad himself demonstrated the true meaning.

When the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) cut off (the hands and feet of) those who had stolen his camels and he had their eyes put out by fire (heated nails), Allah reprimanded him on that (action), and Allah, the Exalted, revealed: “The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Apostle and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is execution or crucifixion.” Abu Dawud 38:4357

The true enemy is not ISIS, Al-Qaeda, Taliban, Muslim Brotherhood, or any other terrorist group or individual, but Islam itself. The very fundamentals of Islam were modeled by Muhammad, whom Allah says is the perfect Muslim to emulate. In fact, Allah commands that Muslims look to no other man to know how to behave.

As long as this political and religious ideology is being practiced, the same persecution and slaughter that Muhammad committed 1,400 years ago will continue to run rampant by the hands of the most devout Muslims.
